first check up

Little man had his first check up with Dr. Coleman on Tuesday. He is weighing in at 8 lbs. 2 oz. now and doing pretty well. He is dealing with some jaundice so we have traveled 45 minutes each way to the Dr. 3 times this week to check his bili levels. My mother in law was so sweet to take him to for another check today. If his levels are still high we will be doing the photo therapy blanket for a little while. I'm so glad she was willing to take him. They poke his foot and then rub it to draw 2 little vials of blood. He screams and screams the whole time and his poor feet are purple. His glucose was low when he was born so between regular sugar checks and jaundice checks, his feet have been poked over 15 times. SAD! I was also glad she took him this morning so I didn't have to get in the car with my feet down for an hour and a half....this is crazy people, CRaZy! I was in so much pain a few days ago after being in the car and my legs and feet were huge..we're talking like elephant man huge! They felt like they were going to explode. My sweet Dr. stayed late at work to see me and couldn't believe the fluid retention. I weighed 4 lbs. MORE than I did 9 months pregnant (that's depressing)....My hip to knee is still totally numb on one side too, weird! I walk fine, I just can't feel my leg. He laughed when I told him my feet hurt more than my having a baby parts :) but I was serious. He gave me some medicine to help get rid of the fluid and if the feeling in my leg doesn't come back in a week, we may do an MRI. So much for keeping this story short BUT I feel so much better now that some of the fluid is out of my legs and we are starting to get some kind of routine going.
