Road Trippin'

Traveling always starts like this. Everyone is happy and smiling...but things can change so quickly. My sweet parents gave us some buddy passes to fly to UT where we were renting a car for some mini road trips to Vernal and Blanding. Prob'm is...buddy passes for 2 people and a lap child is a recipe for disaster. We got to the airport at the crack of dawn (kids got up at 5) with Dusty too (he was flying out for business) and I would have gotten on the first flight but not Paisley. Since we obviously could not be separated...we waited for the next flight. We did NOT get on. The kids were hungry and ready for a nap but we decided to use some back up buddy passes on another airline and try again. We did not get on AgaIn! At this point we had been there half a day trying to get on flights for mutiple airlines which meant running back and forth from terminal to terminal with 2 kids, a stroller, 2 CarSeAtS, diaper bag, entertainment bag, and no sanity bag. All things considered the kids were champs but when Paisley started asking me how come they kept losing our tickets and complaining that her feet her I knew we were done trying for the day. We had to ReNT a car to drive home from the airport only to leave the next day. I felt so bad after taking off P's sandals and finding little blisters scattered across her feet from the insane amount of airport walking. The silver lining was two-fold. I realized I will never do buddy passes again with the kids by myself...and it was a good opportunity to teach Paisley that even when things don't go our way we can pray and be thankful for our blessings anyways...Did I say Paisley?! I mean myself :) ANywAys...we made it to Colorado the next day and stopped fighting the buddy pass nightmare and just added a 9 hour drive with my mom to UT to our trip.

The great thing about road trips is that you never know what you will see.

Whitten was his usual dichotomous self...either content and sweet or crazy with exhaustion b/c he does NOT like to sleep anywhere but his crib.

Driving was not nearly as bad as I had imagined although Celine might say differently. She will drive 10 hours with literally not one word and sitting her next to Paisley who frankly can't drive one minute without talking may have stretched her too far:)
